Dear YEP Supporters,
Fall is in the air…can you feel it? We can too and YEP is forging ahead successfully into our new fiscal year. YEP’s New Orleans Providing Literacy To All Youth (Or NOPLAY) program recently started autumn classes at our free adult learning sites in Mid-City and Algiers. Students in our Afterschool Program are also fully immersed in fun activities and homework help when they arrive at our Youth Center after they finish classes for the day. Thank you for helping make YEP’s wrap-around programming a reality! YOU are helping positively impact the lives of young people in New Orleans.
Afterschool Program Back to School Celebration!
Our Afterschool Program held its Back-to-School Celebration on August 31! YEP participants and their families enjoyed the special event. Thank you to Tulane University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics residents for providing free health screenings and to the LASPCA for stopping by with an adorable four-legged friend. Special thanks to YEP Youth Advocate Jerome Morgan and his business partner, who run Real Gentlemen Barbershop, for the free haircuts for students!
Employee Recognition Day!
YEP held its first ever Employee Appreciation Celebration recognizing the dedicated staff who have been at YEP for the past three, five and ten plus years! Other staff received special & fun awards too. Thank you again to YEP’s full-time and part-time staff for their hard work & commitment to bettering the lives of underserved youth in our community!
Volunteer Orientation Success!
YEP sounded the call and 11 people answered! We had a great turnout for our volunteer orientation with the future YEP supporters (pictured below) interested in being a part of the critical work YEP does! If you missed it, our next volunteer orientation is in November.
