RaJaye, a 10 year old 5th grader at New Orleans College Prep, has been involved with YEP’s afterschool program since it started! She loves YEP’s afterschool program because “I can always get help with my homework,” especially in the subject that she struggles with the most, math! RaJaye says she also likes coming to YEP because she gets to do fun things, like take part in Lemonade Day, an annual nation-wide event that teaches kids the skills they need to be successful in the future. Two year running YEP’s youth have won a prize for operating the Most Successful Business for the South Louisiana Lemonade Day!
Karah Adams, YEP’s afterschool program coordinator, says “RaJaye is definitely one of YEP’s stars. She has been coming to the afterschool program every day since we started the program in 2010. Not only is she a great student, but she is respectful, hardworking, and caring.”
When RaJaye grows up she wants to “become a social worker and work at YEP so that I can help other kids get an education.” We look forward to hiring her as soon as she’s ready to join our team!
