Stacy earned her Bachelors in Science in Geology from California State University Hayward in 1994 and then began teaching as a substitute science teacher. She became involved with adult literacy in 1996 through the Hayward Public Library. Stacey has lived and worked in New Orleans for the last 15 years and is deeply committed to adult education. She was a YEP volunteer, and then taught adult education with a local New Orleans non-profit before joining YEP in 2011.
70 percent of YEP’s staff members are born and raised in New Orleans and the vast majority grew up in the same neighborhoods that our youth live in. Our staff members’ personal understanding of the challenges that our young people face make them uniquely qualified to provide support to YEP youth.
